Often the symbolism of the tarot gets overlooked. Many people are so consumed with learning the key words to each card that they forget each card has a much deeper meaning that can be found within the symbolism.
Today Id like to show some of those deeper meanings found in the The High Priestess card. If you were to just look at the key words of this cards you will find things like intuition, feminine, knowledgeable, and subconscious. While these words are all accurate there is more to this beautiful woman behind the veil.
The High Priestess is the number 2. She is the duality of life. Serving as a bridge between the conscious and subconscious realms. Her element is water. Water represents emotions, intuition and the subconscious mind. Water flows and adapts and holds much wisdom within its depth. The element reflects the High Priestess ability to connect with her intuition. Her zodiac sign is the Moon. The Moon represents cycles, emotions and the hidden aspects of ourselves.
The High Priestess is seated between 2 pillars. One is white one is black. The pillars stand for light and dark. Conscious and unconscious mind. Masculine and feminine energy. one pillar is engraved with a J one with a B. Standing for Jachin and Boaz from
the mystic temple of Solomon. Boaz means " in his strength" Jachin means " he will establish."
The veil behind her signifies the thin veil between the conscious and subconscious. Reminding us of the mysteries that lie beyond our immediate awareness. The veil symbolizes that there is more to reality than what meets the eye. There are hidden truths, knowledge, and wisdom that can be accessed through our intuition. The High Priestess is a guide to help us lift the veil and explore deeper aspects of ourselves. The veil also represents the threshold between the seen and the unseen. The known and the unknown. It encourages us to embrace the unknown. To trust our intuition and to be open to the possibilities that exist beyond our conscious understanding.
The High Priestess embodies feminine power, deep intuition, and spiritual insight. She stands a s a guardian of ancient wisdom. She teaches that true wisdom comes from within and listening to our inner guidance can lead us to great places.
Through her connection to the element of water, the Moon and her symbolism, she guides us to explore our intuition, delve into our subconscious and embrace the mysteries of life.
The High Priestess is a reminder that true wisdom lies within all of us. By tapping into that inner knowledge, we can navigate life with grace and insight.
